Sonnenplatz Großschönau is the company behind the first passive house village with the Probewohnen® scheme allowing you to try before you buy, as well as a Centre of Excellence in Construction and Energy of the Future.
Since it was formed by Project Champions Josef Bruckner and local mayor Martin Bruckner in 2001, Sonnenplatz Großschönau has concerned itself with popularising energy-efficient and sustainable construction and renovation.
A VISION IS REALISED
Sonnenplatz Großschönau came into life in 2001, from the sparks of an idea raised through the local Association for Tourism, Village Revitalisation and Economic Impetus (Verein für Tourismus, Dorferneuerung und Wirtschaftsimpulse – TDW), which has been campaigning for sustainable development of the Großschönau market town and outlying areas since its formation in 1972.
The project was launched by the Association’s Chairman, Josef Bruckner, and the Mayor of Großschönau, Martin Bruckner. Following an initial Green Paper and Feasibility Study conducted in summer 2001, work started on the realisation of the plans. The project has been financially independent since 2002.
